General FAQs

  • CUNYfirst stands for Fully Integrated Resources and Services Tool and for CUNY it means a massive upgrade in how we'll do things in the future. New CUNYfirst processes in Student Administration, Human Resources and Finance will change how we do everything from registering for classes to paying our bills.

    The CUNYfirst system consists of three sections or pillars:

    1. Campus Solutions [Student Administration]
    2. Human Resources [Employees' Administration]
    3. Finance [Business Administration]
  • Every one of our students, faculty and staff have access to CUNYfirst.

    If you have already claimed (activated) your CUNYfirst account and know your User ID and Password:

    You can access your CUNYfirst account by visiting from any computer with internet connection. Make sure the "s" is entered after "http".

    You must know:

    1. Your Username
    2. Your Password

    If you are a first time user you must claim (activate) your account to be able to access the system.

  • Yes. You can access your CUNYfirst account from anywhere off-campus by visiting

  • EMPLID is a unique eight-digit personal identification number used in the CUNYfirst system used as a Student ID or Employee ID. It is important to record your eight-digit EMPLlD! From now on, it will be used to identify you in CUNYfirst and across campus.

    Also, please make a note of your CUNYfirst username (which includes your first name dot last name followed by the last two digits of your EMPLlD).

  • Your password must be:

    • at least 8 characters long.
    • contain at least 1 uppercase letter.
    • contain at least one numeric character OR one special character.
    • must not be one of 4 previous passwords.
    • Note: Your password will expire 90 days after the last password change. The system will prompt you to change your password.

  • Visit the CUNYfirst website, choose “Forgot your password?,” and follow the instructions.

  • CUNYfirst accounts are locked for a period of 1 hour after 5 unsuccessful login attempts. You can try logging in after this time period.

  • No. You are required to use your Bronx Community College email account.

    If you have not activated your Bronx Community College student email account, please do so now.

    Please note that if you have not yet registered, you cannot log into your e-mail account.

  • Yes, but you have to use Mozilla Firefox.

    • For PC's, Internet Explorer is the best choice.
    • For Mac's, CUNYfirst will also work on Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
  • Once you're logged in, on the left hand menu select Self Service, then select Student Center. Scroll down and edit your Personal Information. Hit Save and log out.

    When you log back in in about 30 minutes, you should notice that the banner now reads "Bronx Community College.”
