What if the course is canceled?

In order for a course to run, a minimum number of registrants must be enrolled. The Department of Workforce Development and Continuing Education at Bronx Community College will make every effort to run scheduled courses. However, we reserve the right to cancel courses, make substitutions in faculty and change days, times and locations of classes if and when necessary. In the case of a canceled or postponed class, the Workforce Development staff will make every effort to contact the students. If we are unable to contact you, we strongly suggest you call two business days before class starts to confirm if a class will or will not meet as scheduled.

How often does a course run?

Provided that the minimum student count is met, courses runs every Fall, Spring, and Summer semester. Summer courses are limited. Courses often held during weekday evenings and weekend days. The length of courses may vary depending on the length of instructional hours and curriculum.

Are courses classes held on BCC campus or online?

Yes, Workforce and Economic Development’s classes are held at the BCC campus and in the College’s facilities. However, some contract training or grant-sponsored programs may be held at off-campus sites.

Do you have online courses and how do I register for one?

Yes, we do have online courses available. You may find information about these courses and register for them with our educational partner, Ed2Go ProgramsHealth and Fitness Programs.

Do you need to be a Bronx Community College student to register for a course?

No you do not need to be a BCC student to register for a course.

How do I get to Bronx Community College?

How do I get my certificate?

Certificates are distributed by the professor upon completion of the course. Certificates can also be picked up at Philosophy Hall Room 14. Grades must be submitted by the instructor before a certificate can be issued.

Where can I call to obtain general information about a class?

Course information is readily available in the course catalog which is also available online. Should you require further information, call 718.289.5170.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept money orders, company check’s only, Discover, MasterCard and Visa credit/debit. BCC Workforce and Economic Development does not accept cash payments or personal checks.

How do I get a payment refund?

Students must complete a Refund Request Form at our office. Once approved and processed, all refunds will be mailed directly to the student if paid via money order or to their employer paid through a company check. However, if payments are made by credit card, refund reimbursement transactions will be made with the cardholder’s creditor directly. Students are not able to pick up refunds.

What is your discount policy?

Workforce and Economic Development offers 10% discounts to BCC students, Faculty/Staff and Alumni only.

Is there financial aid for the programs?

In general, we do not offer financial aid to students. However, for a select number of qualifying eligible students we may be able to provide some limited tuition assistance. To learn more about this opportunity, please contact us at (718) 289-5170.

How do I register?

A prospective student can register for classes by either doing so online (at our website, or visiting our Workforce & Economic Development office at Bronx Community College, Philosophy Hall-Room 14, 2155 University Avenue, Bronx, New York 10453.

Do I need an email address to register?

Yes, all students need an email to register for courses. If you do not have an email address, one of our staff members can assist you in creating one with a free email provider (e.g. Hotmail, Google, Yahoo etc.)

How do I make a payment for class registration?

Payments can be made by using a Credit or Debit Card while registering online or by visiting our office. We accept MasterCard, VISA or Discover card payments. Should you choose to register by visiting our office, we also accept money order payments. If paying by money order, please contact our office at 718.289.5170 for information on how to submit the money order for payment. For any other form of payment, vouchers or company checks, please contact our office.
No cash payments are accepted.

Can I register early for a course?

Yes, we encourage early registration. Please note, all of our classes must have a minimum number of students registered in order for the class to run. By registering early, it secures your place in the class.
