American Civil War Homepage – a very comprehensive site with hundreds of links.

American Memory from the Library of Congress – perhaps the largest collection of online sources for American history. A superb and constantly growing site drawing on the immense resources of the Library of Congress.

American Women's History – a large site from SUNY Binghamton.

Documents Related to the Cold War – primary sources on American Cold War policy.

Early Theories of Evolution Darwin and Natural Selection – good introduction to Darwin and his ideas.

Edsitement – a list of web sites in literature, art history, and history, frequently updated by the National Endowment for the Humanities, a U.S. government agency.

Latin American Network Information Center – a vast web site maintained at the University of Texas, organized by topic and country.

LIBERTY! The American Revolution – a PBS web site.

Liberty, Equality, Fraternity Exploring the French Revolution – an excellent site.

Metropolitan Museum of Art – web site of the Met. Most major museums have excellent web sites filled with images– photographs and paintings– from the past.

The British National Archives Learning Curve Onfilm Film Archive Main Menu – British online archive of historical film clips.

New York 1964 World's Fair – a fascinating piece of local history. Great images.

The New-York Historical Society – a great resource and well worth a visit (in person).

The New York Public Library Digital Library Collection – drawn from all NYPL collections.
