How can I schedule a tour or a meeting with an admissions counselor?

You can call or email us to schedule a visit. During your visit you'll have the opportunity to sit one-on-one with an Admissions Advisor. Perspective students will learn about the admissions process, how to complete your financial aid application, and answer any questions you may have regarding the College. How can I apply to BCC?

Regardless if you are a domestic or international student, your first step prior to submitting your application is to determine if you will be a freshman or transfer student. If you have a high school diploma or you are currently in high school and have never attended any college or university you should submit a freshman application. If you previously attended a college or university, you will need to submit a transfer application. This applies even if you are a student still in your first year, will not transfer credits to BCC, and/or if you previously attended a college or university outside of the United States.

After you determine what type of application you need to submit you should download the Application Worksheet. You will find step by step instructions on how to submit your application to BCC. These are available by clicking on the one of the following links:

Finally, in order to submit your application you will need to create a CUNY Portal account. Once you create a CUNY Portal account you can submit your application online, check the status of your admission and financial aid application.

I have submitted my application, how do I submit all other required documents?

There are a few additional steps to ensure your application is reviewed by the Admissions Office. Your next step is to make sure you pay your application fee and submit all supporting documents. You can mail your documents to the following addresses:

Is there an application fee?

Yes. A non-refundable application fee of $65 is required for freshman applicants and a fee of $70 is required for all transfer applicants.

Is there an application deadline?

BCC operates on a rolling admissions basis. Please check the CUNY application deadlines or call the Office of Admissions at 718.289.5895..

What happens after I submit my application?

Our University Application Processing Center will review your application materials to determine if you are eligible to be admitted to your academic program of choice. If your admissions file is complete, you will receive an admissions decision within four to five weeks. If any required documents are missing from your admissions file we will contact you to let you know and guide you through your final admissions steps.

Do I have to attend an information session?

Yes. Information sessions are mandatory for admitted students planning to attend BCC. These events are designed to provide you with information on the next steps you have to take to ensure you matriculate in your courses, find out how to complete your financial aid application and to give you an opportunity to ask as many questions as you wish.

Do I have to take the placement test?

All students applying as freshman must take the placement exam after receiving an acceptance letter.  Transfer students may have to take the placement exam.  All students will receive notifications via email to inform them if they have to take the exam and the date they are schedule to take the exam.

Is there a deposit I need to pay?

Yes. BCC requires a commitment fee of $100. This fee is non-refundable but we will apply it to your tuition charges. If you file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and you have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $3000 or less, as determined by the Financial Aid Office, you may be eligible to have your commitment fee waived.

How can I qualify for in-state resident tuition?

To be eligible for in-state tuition rates you must have at least one year's residency in New York State and/or six months in New York City. Under F-1 visa regulations, international students do not qualify for in-state tuition. Residency can be proven in various ways, click here to learn more.

Does BCC accept Advanced Placement (AP) Credits?

Yes. At the time of matriculation, students who have completed Advanced Placement (AP) college level courses while in high school may apply for college credit if they have taken the corresponding AP exam.

Does BCC offer financial aid?

Yes. BCC participates in both federal and state financial aid programs. In fact, over 92% of BCC students received financial aid in the 2013 academic year. Our financial aid office will assist you with your financial aid application and will ensure that you receive all the financial aid you may qualify for.

How will I know what courses I need to take?

Once you are admitted to BCC and have taken the placement exam, the Office of Student Engagement and Success will assign an academic advisor to work with you and ensure you enroll in the courses you need. You will receive and email notifying you of your advisement appointment. It is very important for you to come to your appointment as your advisor will set time aside to meet with you one-on-one.

Can I request needed accommodations if I have a disability?

Yes.  The Office of Disability Services will work with you to determine the services that are available to you.

Do I need to provide my immunization records?

Yes. Students born after January 1, 1957 must provide proof of vaccination for Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR).
